An Organizational Artificial Intelligence Strategy

Artificial Intelligence (in the context of Generative Large Language Models- LLMs) is taking centre stage in discussions around the future of organizations. In the context of Uganda however, organizations cannot leapfrog the initial process. Although software is dependent on code, when it comes to Artificial Intelligence, the dependence is on data, large amounts of data sets.

Thus, for any organization seeking to make the way for artificial intelligence layering in their operations, it’s critical to define first things first. Organizations ought to articulate first their data strategy before attempting to move into the Artificial Intelligence world.

Without a well-defined data strategy, regarding data sets, the types of these data sets, the quality of these data sets, it would be putting the cart before the horse in attempting an AI journey. Yes, there could be benefits here and there, but nothing that causes turnaround in efficiency, in effectiveness.

The starting point before any implementation of AI additions would be an AI readiness check. Is the organization geared for AI additions? Has it passed the critical tests?
